Ft. Myers and nearby Sanibel and Captiva Islands are widely known for their spectacular (and tame) wading birds. This area of the gulf coast is a magical place and
never ceases to provide an enormous pallete for making avian images. In addition, the nearby town of Cape Coral has the largest population of burrowing owls in Florida.
I returned to the area in April 2003 when the birds were in maginificent breeding plummage and had a blast. As you can see, I also photographed some non-avian subjects as well!
This is the first gallery from that wonderful trip.
